The Mineola Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, June 16. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Terence Hale’s Last Meeting as Board President

  • Since the June 16 meeting was the last one before the July 8 reorganizational meeting, outgoing President Terence Hale took the opportunity to thank each board member for their work during the “very very challenging year,” as well as those who voted for him in the, sending him back to the board for another term.
  • “I couldn’t have done it without you guys, your support,” Hale said.
  • In keeping with the tradition of the president giving gifts for fellow board members, Hale presented wrapped boxes to each of the board members containing an inspirational plaque and “southern style” black bottom cupcake. He also gave a gluten free brownie cake to Superintendent Dr. Michael Nagler and his family.
  • “Because we’ve dedicated ourselves to this, I really do appreciate that and I look forward to doing this for another 2 years and maybe I’ll be president again – who knows?” Hale said.
