Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- Village of Mineola officials spoke out at its recent board meeting against four confusing redistricting proposals by the North Hempstead Town Board that Mineola Trustee Jeffrey Clark referred to as "a political power grab." The proposals would break up Mineola and its 20,000 residents into different districts. Mineola Mayor Paul Pereira and four Mineola trustees were united in their protest of the proposals and urged residents to call 311 to voice their concerns to the town hall. (The Island 360)
- Chicken chain restaurant PDQ, well-known in Florida, has opened its second location on Long Island in Westbury Plaza at 1236 Old Country Road. PDQ touts that its chicken is "fresh, never frozen" and is served in made-to-order sandwiches and salad bowls, along with side dishes and milkshakes. (LongIsland.com)
