Nassau Lawmakers Approve New Police Officer Contract

The eight-year deal is worth $167 million.

MINEOLA, NY — The Nassau County Legislature has approved a contract extension for police salaries.

The pact is for eight years at $167 million with Police Benevolent Association. It is the first increase for officers since 2017, the outlet said.

The vote passed 18-0, a spokesperson for the legislature said.

"This agreement strikes the right balance between fulfilling our steadfast commitment to supporting Nassau County’s law enforcement professionals and fiscally protecting Nassau
taxpayers by managing the growth of budgetary costs in future years," Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) said.

The state board has to sign off on the agreement.
