No. 94 - Join the American Legion Hall
If you are a veteran, consider joining Post #349 in Mineola.
in Mineola serves veterans in and around the community. The group of war vets demonstrate patriotism and honor through their participation in events and support to veterans returning back home.
Together these members discuss ways they can help each other. One member, Bill Urianek, has been working on a project to collect and recycle bottles and cans. The money collected is put aside as a contribution to help when they finish serving.
Urianek is also passionate about VetDogs, a division of The Guide Dog Foundation. Any injured soldier who has been honorably discharged and requires a service dog is entitled to get one. However, Urianek said this comes at a cost: about $50,000. Right now Post #349 has and say they are hoping for even more.

Other activities the Legion conducts include taking trips to feed homeless veterans and conducting school programs to talk to students about freedom.
While these veterans donate their time, they try to get local restaurants and organizations to donate money to go towards VetDogs and other services to help veterans help themselves.
