Pair Arrested For Robbing Nassau Gas Station: Police

BREAKING: Police said the two stole smoking paraphernalia after one of them failed to rob the cash register.

Two men — one from Mineola and one from Freeport — were arrested early Thursday morning after police say they robbed a gas station in Mineola.

According to police, officers responded to 76 Gas Station, located at 2 West Jericho Turnpike, for a call for a robbery in progress. When they arrived, they found the 33-year-old gas station clerk outside. He said that a man entered the store with his hand in his shirt, simulating a weapon, and demanded money. The clerk was able to flee the store and call the police. The robber unsuccessfully tried to open the register to get cash, and instead took a glass water pipe and fled.

Police investigated and found that a second man was in the store at the time and stole a mini vaporizer before fleeing.

He was also arrested without incident.

Both men are charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. They are both scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
