Police: Teen Killed, 4 Hurt in Northern State Crash

Two-car crash occurred Friday night in Old Westbury.

A 17-year-old from Queens died and four others were injured in a two-car crash on the Northern State Parkway late Friday night, State Police said.

According to police, a Chevrolet Malibu and a BMW were both traveling eastbound when they collided at about 11:06 p.m. near Exit 30 in Old Westbury. The impact of the crash caused the Chevy to leave the road, strike the center median and enter the westbound lanes before coming to rest on its roof. The BMW also left the road and struck a tree off the right shoulder, police said.

The front seat passenger of the BMW, 17-year-old Justin McClyment, of Rosedale, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and rear seat passenger of the BMW suffered serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals, police said.

The two people inside the Chevy suffered minor injuries and were taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset for treatment, police said.

Both cars were traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, but drugs and alcohol are not considered to have played a role in the crash, Newsday reported, citing a State Police spokesman.
