  1. A red wave rolled across Nassau County on Election Day, as Republican candidates were poised to win most races, according to unofficial tallies. Bruce Blakeman, a Town of Hempstead councilman, claimed victory in the Nassau County Executive race over incumbent Democrat Laura Curran, who was waiting for absentee ballots to be counted.   2. In another prominent race, Republican Anne Donnelly, a longtime county prosecutor, declared victory over Democrat Todd Kaminsky, a New York State Senator, in the race for Nassau County District Attorney. (Long Island Press)
