Voter’s Guide to the 2012-13 Mineola Budget

Headed into today’s school budget vote, the Mineola Patch is bringing you a voter’s guide for everything you need to know before you head into the voting booth.

2012-13 School Budget

The total amount of the , representing an decrease of $229,458 in spending or a .27 percent drop from 2011-12.

The 2012-13 tax levy – what the District will ask the community to contribute – would be $76,242,180, an increase of $1,443,803 over 2011-12, or 1.93 percent, which is in keeping with the .

The budget keeps all programs and activities intact and maintains the district technology plan and even expands it, particularly with the .

A $600,000 has also been made to cover the as well as a at , which is still to be decided upon by the board of education. If the board decides not to spend the money for the bus loop, the funds would return to the capital line at the end of the year.

The budget also calls for the reduction of three full-time teaching positions, two administrative positions and three custodian positions.
