Westbury Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges

The man shot a 20-year-old woman in the chest during an argument Sunday morning, police say.

A Westbury man faces attempted murder charges after police say he shot a woman in the chest Sunday morning.

According to authorities, Andre Danzy, 40, shot the 20-year-old woman during a verbal argument at his Hicks Street home at 11:30 a.m.

Danzy was arrested a short time later on Hempstead Turnpike. He was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in a private car where she is listed in stable condition. The weapon was recovered and police do not have details regarding the argument at this time.

Danzy will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
