📰 News we're reading

• On the Police Logs 09.17.26 (easthamptonstar.com) — Recent police reports include several Montauk incidents, from a suspicious man leaving a bicycle near a motel to a noise citation issued to the Montauk Project restaurant for loud music. Officers also responded to a missing phone traced from a Montauk nightclub to Amagansett, a drone repeatedly circling a local home, and a tense tree-trimming dispute between neighboring Montauk property owners.

• Living With Dead Zones (easthamptonstar.com) — Montauk residents are part of a broader East Hampton Town push to fix dangerous cell-service dead zones, with new T-Mobile small-cell sites planned but still leaving some gaps in coverage. Locals across Springs, Northwest Woods, Napeague, and Montauk describe daily frustrations and safety worries, while town officials struggle to balance better service with preserving community character and aesthetics.

• From Manhattan to Montauk, a new trail is taking shape (southforker.com) — Plans for the Long Island Greenway include a major section running from Riverhead all the way to Montauk, promising safer walking and biking connections for East End residents. While construction near Montauk is still in design, the trail could eventually link local communities, schools, parks, and downtowns, bringing new recreation options and economic benefits to the area.
