YONKERS, NY — Members of the 300 Bloodhound Brims street gang have been indicted for their involvement in a violent mob attack and robbery, prosecutors announced on Monday.

Eleven adults and three teenage offenders were arrested on charges, including felony gang assault and robbery in the attack on North Broadway in Yonkers. The brutal gang assault left a 33-year-old victim with bleeding on the brain, as well as broken and missing teeth. The incident was captured on video.

Saying “violence would not be tolerated here in Westchester,” DA Miriam Rocah joined Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Police Commissioner John Mueller and members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force to announce the arrests and indictments.

Thirteen of those in the case are members of the 300 Bloodhound Brims street gang, aka “the hounds,” according to officials. The gang has been involved in previous violent incidents in Yonkers and surrounding towns. The laundry list of crimes associated with the hounds includes felony assaults, robberies and gun violence. Hounds members are believed to be associated with the crossfire shooting of a six-year-old child on Ash Street on April 30, and the drive-by shooting of four victims on Elm Street on June 10.

“From the moment this heinous act took place, we set out to bring those responsible to justice,” Mueller said. “Let this be a warning to those who wish to take part in gang activity, the Yonkers Police will find you, arrest you, and deliver you into the Criminal Justice System.”

The arrests stem from the June 17 beating of a man who was walking past a party near North Broadway and Ashburton Avenue on his way to a nearby bodega at around 9 p.m. The event was already being monitored by police detectives because known gang members were thought to be in attendance.

Despite the perpetrators fleeing the scene as police arrived, five suspects were arrested within hours of the attack. Investigators then started the painstaking process of going through surveillance video “frame-by-frame” to identify additional suspects who joined in the melee, punching and kicking the victim as he lay unconscious. Police say those arrested could be seen searching the victim and taking his personal items, including two gold chains and a wristwatch.

“Great work again by our Yonkers Police in removing these gang members off our streets,” Spano said. “Gang violence is quickly becoming another pandemic affecting our urban centers, and by apprehending these repeat offenders who cause such destruction in our neighborhoods, residents can begin to feel safe again in their homes and communities.”
