28-Year-Old Woman Found Dead On Banks Of Westchester River Is ID'ed

There was no identification found on the body so dental records were used to identify the young woman found on Monday.

YONKERS, NY — Westchester County police released additional details today about the body of a woman found along the banks of the Bronx River near the northbound Bronx River Parkway, about a half-mile north of the NYC border, on Monday morning.

A Westchester County Public Safety spokesperson said that the woman who was found dead has been identified as Nicosha Gayle, 28, of the Bronx.

Gayle was not in possession of any identification when she was found. It took several days to identify her and confirm the ID through dental records.

Police say that Gayle's family was notified on Thursday.

The Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy earlier this week and Gayle's cause of death remains undetermined. Police say their investigation continues and they are waiting for the results of toxicology tests.
