Another Member Of '300 Bloodhound Brims' Goes Down For Brutal Attack
A violent gang assault with a glass bottle left the gang member's victim disfigured, scarred, missing teeth and suffering a brain injury.

YONKERS, NY — A Westchester County jury has found the final member of the 300 Bloodhound Brims street gang, who was involved in a violent assault in Yonkers, guilty .
The member of the 300 Bloodhound Brims street gang faces five to 25 years in prison for the violent gang attack, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced. After a weeklong trial, the jury found the defendant, Develle Coates, 20, guilty of gang assault in the first degree, a violent felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
Coates is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2.

On June 17, 2021, at about 9 p.m., Coates hit the 33-year-old victim in the head with a glass liquor bottle, rendering the victim unconscious, on North Broadway in Yonkers. The attack on the victim continued as other gang members and associates repeatedly struck and kicked the victim.
The victim, who was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, suffered protracted disfigurement, facial scarring, lost and chipped multiple teeth, and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury.

The Yonkers Police Department arrested Coates shortly after the incident and recovered a set of metal knuckles from his waistband.
Twelve others, including three under the age of 18, involved in the incident were arrested after a joint investigation by the Yonkers Police Department, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, the Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research and the United States Office of Probation.

The 12 co-defendants each pled guilty in this case. Nine have been sentenced and three are awaiting sentencing:
- Dior Moore, 19, was sentenced on May 24, to eight years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the first degree.
- Timothy Whitney, 24, was sentenced on May 26, to eight years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the first degree.
- Perryon McKenny, 19, was sentenced on August 18, to eight years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the first degree.
- Latrell Murray, 23, was sentenced on June 9, to eight years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to felony robbery.
- Darden Thomas, 22, was sentenced on June 9, to eight years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to felony robbery.
- An unnamed adolescent offender, who is now 18, was sentenced on May 26, before Judge Helen Blackwood in Youth Part, to five years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the first degree.
- Jahnai McNeal, 20, was sentenced on May 26, to 3.5 years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the second degree.
- An adolescent offender, who is now 19, was sentenced on February 16, before Judge Blackwood in Youth Part, to 3.5 years in prison, with five years of post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to gang assault in the second degree.
- An adolescent offender, who is now 18, was adjudicated a "Youthful Offender" and sentenced to one year of detention.
- Vance Major, 23, pled guilty on September 1, to gang assault in the second degree. In accordance with his plea agreement, he will be sentenced to eight years in state prison, with five years of post-release supervision, when he is sentenced on January 5, 2023.
- Drayquan Green, 21, pled guilty on October 3, to gang assault in the first degree. In accordance with his plea agreement, he will be sentenced to five years in state prison, with five years of post-release supervision, when he is sentenced on January 13, 2023.
- Peter Thompson, 20, pled guilty on October 12, to riot in the first degree, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a violation. He is awaiting the final disposition of his case.
All of the defendants are being prosecuted by the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau of the Trials and Investigations Division.
