Armed Suspects Force Way Into Family's Apartment Just Before Dawn: YPD

Breaking: Investigators believe the house was specifically targeted, but that the family living in the unit were not the intended victims.

YONKERS, NY — A family was alarmed when armed attackers forced their way into their Yonkers apartment in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Just before 5 a.m., the Yonkers Police Department was called to a two-family residence on Crestvale Terrace on a report of a robbery. Investigators said several armed suspects forced entry into the home, targeting a specific apartment that was unoccupied.

While searching the home, they also entered the second apartment and encountered a family living in there. Investigators said the targeting of the home was not random, and that the suspects may have known there was something of value hidden in the house. Police do not believe the family had anything to do with whatever the robbers were searching for.
