Car Lands In River Near Bronx River Parkway
The vehicle landed wheels up in the water, but the three occupants inside were able to get out of the car on their own.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A car has ended up in the water following a traffic accident on the Bronx River Parkway.
Three people were hospitalized after a car went off the exit ramp and landed in the water, according to ABC7 New York. Westchester County Police told the news station that the car was traveling northbound on the Bronx River Parkway and exited onto the Yonkers Avenue exit ramp before leaving the roadway and eventually coming to a stop in the river.
"At 1:39 p.m., WCPD received 911 calls reporting that a car exiting the Bronx River Parkway at Yonkers Avenue had gone over a concrete wall and had fallen into the Bronx River," Westchester County Police said in a statement released Tuesday evening. "Patrol officers, along with Yonkers PD and Yonkers FD, responded and determined that the vehicle had landed wheels up and that its three occupants had gotten out of the car on their own. The three men in their 20s, who were conscious and alert, were taken to Jacobi Medical Center for evaluation."

Exit ramp 10A for Yonkers Avenue remained closed for more than two hours, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
Images from above the scene appeared to showed the vehicle overturned in the water. The Yonkers Fire Department told News 12 Westchester that all of the passengers were safely out of the car despite the dramatic nature of the accident.
