Fentanyl-Laced Heroin Suspected In 3 Overdose Deaths On Monday

YONKERS, NY —The Yonkers Police Department is investigating three apparent overdose deaths in the City of Yonkers on Monday.

Investigators believe that the deaths may be connected to a single source of heroin suspected to be laced with fentanyl. The bad batch is apparently packaged in a distinct green glassine envelope, authorities said in an alert released on Tuesday.

The Yonkers Police Major Case Squad and Narcotics Unit, are investigating these overdoses and working with local law enforcement agencies in the region to find those responsible for distributing the deadly substance.

"The City of Yonkers and Yonkers Police Department offers its condolences to the families of the victims," police officials said.

Police are warning the public to never use unknown or un-prescribed controlled substances, especially illegal street drugs, noting that, as these cases prove, the results can be deadly.

Anyone who has any information about these incidents or the drugs involved, is being asked to call the Yonkers Police Narcotics Unit at (914) 377-TIPS (8477). Officials said calls may remain anonymous and confidential.
