Grand Jury Indictment In Fatal Shooting Of Roommate In Yonkers: DA

Investigators say the Bronx man not only killed his former roommate in March, but also stole his cellphone.

YONKERS, NY — Bronx resident William Pryor was indicted for fatally shooting his former roommate in March, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Friday.

The 22-year-old was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury for murder in the second degree and two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Pryor was also indicted on a misdemeanor petit larceny count.

He was arraigned in Westchester County Court on Friday and is being held without bail.

According to investigators, on March 3, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Pryor fatally shot his roommate, 29-year-old Yonkers resident Marquis Muniz. Pryor is also accused of stealing the victim’s cell phone.

The Yonkers Police Department arrested Pryor on June 30, in Croton-on-Hudson, following a multi-agency operation with the U.S. Marshals, the Peekskill Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

"Amazing work by our Yonkers Police Officers and Detectives both in the initial response to this incident and in the lengthy and tedious investigation that took place in the several months afterwards," said Yonkers Police Commissioner Chris Sapienza. "Thank you to our Law Enforcement partners in Peekskill and with the U.S. Marshall’s Service for your assistance in helping us apprehend the offender of this heinous and violent crime. The Yonkers Police Department will work tirelessly to combat all violent crime and apprehend the perpetrators who wish to commit those acts in this City."

Pryor is scheduled to appear again in court on September 27.
