Hit-and-Run Allegedly Involves Mount Vernon Official's Trash Truck: Report

The owners of the damaged car tell Black Westchester Magazine police refused to amend a preliminary accident report with video evidence.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A city couple has been unable to get police to act on an accident involving R&S Waste Services, which is owned by Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Spezio, according to Black Westchester Magazine.

The owner of the vehicle, Walter Brown, told the magazine an R&S truck pushed his Ford Explorer in an alley at the back entrance of a laundromat on West 1st Street on Dec. 9. He said that he took a copy of surveillance video to police as requested but they refused to amend the incomplete accident report.

City Councilman Andre Wallace has now taken up the couple's cause, writing a letter to Deputy Police Commissioner Ronald Fatigate to ask that the carter's license with the city be revoked pending an investigation, the magazine reported.
