Mike’s Hard Lemonade Heist Nets Jail Time For Truck Driver

The driver who made off with $32K in booze from a Yonkers lot will also be required to pay restitution for the soured plot.

YONKERS, NY — A truck driver who made off with a trailer filled with booze will be missing quite a few happy hours after being sentenced to six months behind bars.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced on Thursday that a truck driver from New Rochelle was sentenced to six months of incarceration for stealing a semi-tractor trailer containing more than $32,000 worth of alcohol from a lot off Interstate-87 in Yonkers.

Kelvin Garcia Liriano, 28, pleaded guilty on Nov. 20, to felony grand larceny in the second degree. He was also sentenced to five years of probation and is required to pay $42,793.76 in restitution.

On March 21, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Liriano stole a $45,000 semi-tractor trailer containing 1,560 cases of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, worth $32,793, from a lot in Yonkers located off I-87. The truck driver drove the rig to Brooklyn where the vehicle was later found by police abandoned and empty on Atlantic Avenue.

New York State Police from the Hawthorne Barracks arrested Liriano in the Bronx on April 17, 2023, following a joint investigation with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Criminal Investigator Squad. The Yonkers Police Department and the New Rochelle Police Department assisted with the investigation.
