He was at a game in Baltimore with a friend.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Mount Vernon firefighter and his friend from Eastchester will not have to serve time in jail after assaulting a 55-year-man at a Baltimore Ravens game in Maryland in 2016. Andrew Nappi, 32, of Eastchester, and Scott Smith, 30, of Mount Vernon, will each serve 18 months probation after entering an Alford plea Friday in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The men were charged with one count of second-degree assault, a misdemeanor, the Baltimore Sun reported. [Get Patch’s Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts here.]
According to Lawyer.com, a Alford plea is a guilty plea by a defendant who claims to be innocent. Such a defendant believes the evidence too strong to go to trial and that going to trial would increase the chance of a jury conviction with a resulting tougher sentence.
