Mount Vernon To Give Out 400 Free Residential Security Cameras
Residents can sign up through a special website, city officials said.
MOUNT VERNON, NY — The city on Tuesday announced it is giving out 400 free security cameras to residents to help deter crime and improve safety.
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said the initiative is expected to be a “critical deterrent’ to crimes such as break-ins, package thefts, reckless driving, illegal dumping, and thefts of vehicles and car parts.
The Public Safety Camera Program, funded by $61,800 from the American Rescue Plan Act, begins with this residential camera initiative.
