Mrs. Claus To Brave Heatwave For Cross County Christmas In July

After more than a year of restrictions on retailers and public gatherings, Christmas in July will be much more than just a sale this year.

YONKERS, NY — It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go at the Cross County Center shopping mall.

It isn't just anachronistic holiday decorations that make Christmas in July so special. Giving kids a chance to enjoy the magic of the special season during one of the hottest months of the year is just plain fun. Of course, organizers of the retail center's summertime holiday spectacular would also like to remind shoppers that it's more than halfway to Black Friday — the unofficial start of the real holiday shopping season.

In addition to special discounts for consumers who would like a really big head start on their shopping list, the festivities have a number of activities for kids under 12 years of age. Entertainment direct from the North Pole includes story time with Mrs. Claus, a DJ dance party with "rocking" elves and a holiday-inspired craft workshop and an Arctic photo booth.

The event is free and will take place on The Green, the common area in the center of the mall near Gap and Victoria's Secret. If there is inclement weather, the event will be moved to the now vacant space formerly occupied by NY&CO.

It is recommended that children too young to be vaccinated and guests who are not vaccinated wear masks. 'Tis the season of coronavirus (for a little longer yet) after all.
