Teen Arrested After Threatening To 'Shoot Up School': YPD

Yonkers police arrest 17-year-old high school student for making terroristic threats after fellow students reported the comments.

YONKERS, NY — A 17-year-old Yonkers Public Schools student was arrested after making "overt threats to shoot-up the school," according to Yonkers Police Department officials.

Detectives arrested the teenager on Tuesday. He is not being identified because he is being charged as an adolescent offender. Police would only confirm that he is a high school student in the Yonkers Public School system. He is being charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a felony in New York.

Fellow students reported the troubling comments to the school administration. Yonkers police were notified. An investigation was led by the Yonkers Police Department Intelligence Division and the student was arrested. Police said there does not appear to be evidence that the student took steps to carry through on the alleged threats.
