Thornton High School Blood Drive Collects 30 Units
Mount Vernon City School District says that forty-eight students participated, as well as staff and the community.
From Mount Vernon City School District: Thornton High School’s blood drive in early February collected 30 units of blood. A total of 48 students participated, as well as staff and the community. It was the school’s second blood drive this school year.
“Today was my first time donating blood,” student Andres Santos said. “I went in with high expectations. It was a great experience to help contribute to save lives.”
Student Lillian Carr said, “Today was my first time. I was scared at first, and after I donated it felt very rewarding.”

“I’m extremely proud of all the students that came out to save lives,” said Ms. Jessica Pizzuti, Thornton Special Education teacher and organizer of the event.
