Westchester 30-Year-Old Guilty Of Felony Weapons Charges Related To May 2025 Shooting

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A jury has convicted a Westchester man of felony weapons charges after police solved a stubborn mystery.

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that after a weeklong jury trial, 30-year-old Tre Herring, of Mount Vernon, was convicted of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The charges stem from an incident which took place on May 17, of last year, where three gunshots were fired on South 2nd Avenue in Mount Vernon. Police later recovered three 9mm shell casings at the scene.

Herring faces seven to 15 years in state prison, when sentenced on March 10.

This investigation was handled by the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety. The case was prosecuted by Bureau Chief James Bavero and ADA Andre Ingenito of the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau.
