MOUNT VERNON, NY — Westchester County Crime Stoppers has announced that it is offering a record $7,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the unsolved murder of a Mount Vernon resident in June 2021.

Derickson K. Lawrence, chairman of Westchester County Crime Stoppers, said that the reward will be in effect from now through Dec. 30.

"Someone out there knows something and there is no reason for them to wait any longer," Lawrence said at a press conference on the steps on Mount Vernon City Hall. "We are putting a deadline on this reward because this case has remained open long enough. We are hopeful the reward will be an incentive for someone with valuable information to come forward now and help get justice for Jeremy Logan and his family."

Chynna Smith-Marte, Jeremy Logan’s aunt, spoke on behalf of the family and noted that Jeremy’s murder was devastating to his loved ones and the whole community.

"After his passing, the South Side cried," Smith-Marte recalled. "It was beautiful, yet painful, to see how loved he was and to hear all the stories of how he touched someone’s heart. I pray that anyone with information that can explain why my nephew can’t be with us this Christmas finds the strength to come forward."

Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard also made a plea for anyone with information to come forward.

"Anytime a homicide happens, it is devastating to the family, friends and the community," the mayor said. "However, when a homicide goes unsolved, it is very difficult for a family to get closure. There is a difference between what people may know or feel and the people willing to come forward to provide evidence that can be held in the court of law. No one wants to have cases that are unsolved where their family and loved ones are involved. We want to thank Westchester County Crime Stoppers for providing funding to help incentivize those who have information to come forward so that this case can be solved, the Logan family can begin a healing process and that those who are involved in this case can be brought to justice."
