Westchester Woman Stabbed 'Multiple Times,' Suspect In Custody
Both the victim and suspect, who had lacerations on his hands, are expected to make a full recovery, according to Mount Vernon police.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Mount Vernon woman was stabbed multiple times in a violent attack over the weekend.
At approximately 5:22 pm, on Saturday, the Mount Vernon Police Department was called to South 8th Ave. and West Sandford Blvd. on a report of a woman screaming for help.
Officers saw the woman walking eastbound on West Sandford Blvd. wearing a bloodied shirt and bleeding from her head. She appeared to have been stabbed multiple times, police said.

The victim told officers that she was stabbed on South 8th Ave. and provided officers with a description of her attacker. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cops located the suspect, Martin Argeta, at his home address which was where the victim said she was stabbed. Police said that as a result of the violence, Argeta sustained lacerations to both hands.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon for treatment. He was treated and released from Montefiore Mount Vernon and taken straight to the Mount Vernon Police Department Jail where he was charged with first degree assault.
Argeta is expected to be arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on Monday.
Both the victim and suspect are expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about the the stabbing to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police. Anonymous tips can also be sent via MVPD "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple store.
