Yonkers Armed Robbery Suspects, Fleeing Cops, Crash On GW Bridge Ramp

A 62-year-old man from out of state was hurt when 3 men assaulted him and stole his pick-up, which they wrecked in the police chase: YPD

YONKERS, NY — An armed robbery and resulting chase has ended with a crash at the entrance of the George Washington Bridge, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Yonkers Police Department responded to reports of a gunpoint robbery at a BP gas station on Yonkers Avenue.

Three suspects reportedly assaulted the owner of a pick-up truck and fled in his vehicle, according to officials.

Yonkers Police Department units located the truck and pursued the vehicle into the Bronx, where the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed on the George Washington Bridge entrance ramp from southbound I-87.

One suspect was caught at the scene and there is currently a search taking place for the remaining suspects. NYPD is on the scene assisting with the search and investigation.

The victim of the carjacking is an out-of-state, 62-year-old man, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No shots were fired.

The I-87 southbound George Washington Bridge ramp was closed for hours because of the police activity and drivers were told to avoid the area.
