Boarding Animals at Nanuet's Bihari Kennels

Since 1959 Bihari Kennels has been serving Rockland County.

Joe Bihari moved to the United States after taking refuge from the Hungarian Revolution in Austria in 1957 with his wife, son, and German Shephard, Rex. He started off in Corning, New York, but then moved to Nanuet in 1959 when he opened Bihari Kennels.

German Shephards are the specialty of Bihari Kennels. Since his days in Hungary, Joe Bihari has been training and breeding shephards. He shows his dogs in competitions where he has won many top prizes. He takes pride in the puppies he breeds and the dogs he trains.

Opening a kennel was nothing new to Bihari. Back in Hungary he had a kennel where he raised and trained puppies. With a passion in his heart for dogs, it was a natural transition to start the kennel in Nanuet.

From that day on Bihari Kennels would be owned and family operated. The kennel takes on both dogs and cats. The animals boarded are very well looked after by the family. If there is any suspection of illness, they are immediately brought to a vet.

Grooming is another feature available at Bihari. Whether while being boarded or being dropped off, the pets are carefully bathed, trimmed and freshened up to the owners' specifics.

Bihari also trains and breeds dogs. Trainers will get the dog behaved on leash, around other dogs, and more. If someone is looking for an award winning German Shepherd, they need look no further. Joe sells puppies of the best linneage, breeded for show.

Food and pet supplies are also available for purchase at Bihari. They are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
