Eagle Scout Projects Helped American Legion, Jawonio
Troop 21 held a Court of Honor ceremony for Cameron Martel and Matthew Hinkley last weekend.
Cameron Martel and Matthew Hinkley of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 21 in Suffern were recognized for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction earned by only 4 percent of all Boy Scouts nationwide.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day presented Cameron and Matthew with Awards of Excellence on behalf of the County during a weekend Court of Honor ceremony at the Suffern Community Center.
Cameron’s Eagle Leadership Service Project included the construction of a sandbox and sand table for children in the summer education program at Jawonio to enjoy.
Matthew’s Eagle Scout Project involved replacing the old grill system at the American Legion Post #859 in Suffern and beautifying the surrounding area. The new permanent structure will be enjoyed by members and visitors of the American Legion.
