A Little Night Music in August at The Shops at Nanuet

Live entertainment will keep the stage ablaze at The Shops at Nanuet every Thursday night in August during the Summer Concert Series, sponsored by Fairway Market in association with Tiara Jewelers, Nyack Hospital and The Journal News. Taking place through October 1, performances are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and offer area music lovers the opportunity to enjoy free concerts every week.

Our August performers will have something for everyone, from rock-and-roll to salsa, R&B and American classics, and we welcome shoppers to spend Thursday nights at The Shops at Nanuet this month.”

The Summer Concert Series at The Shops at Nanuet is free entertainment, open to the public and takes place on Fashion Drive, which will be closed to vehicular traffic between Kay Jewelers and the plaza.

To make it a great experience, the following Insider Tips will help concert goers during visits:

1. Seating is limited so event attendees are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs.
2. While Fashion Drive is closed, it is recommended that guests park in the back of the property and use the escalator by Regal Cinemas to access shops and the concert area.
3. Guests can arrive early, stay late and take advantage of an array of special food sampling by the center’s restaurants and eateries, which will vary each week.
   
4. Retailers lululemon athletica and 24 Hour Fitness will host outdoor exercise classes each week just prior to the start of the concerts, from 5 to 6 p.m.

People to People, an organization that works to help Rockland County neighbors through difficult times, will be on-site during the Summer Concert Series to collect supplies for its Back to School with Dignity program, which aims to provide essential school supplies to at-risk Rockland students in grades kindergarten to 12. The Summer Concert Series will include performances from the following bands in August:

• August 6 – 3D Ritmo de Vida: Led by drummer Michael Tate, this bilingual dance band for the 21st Century and beyond serves up a tropical mix of funky salsa and Caribbean soul with a New York attitude.
  
  
• August 13 – Better Than Bowling: Showcasing an uncommon blend of rock and roll, R&B, blues and classic rock, Better Than Bowling’s motto is “It’s our job to make life fun…for a couple of hours, anyway.” The ensemble entertains with original music and covers by Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison and more.
  
  
• August 20 – Yesterday and Today: A top Beatles cover band in the New York metro area, Yesterday and Today recreates the sound of The Beatles’ music down to every detail. The band performs using the same instruments used by the Fab Four, blended with superb vocal harmonies to recreate those magical and historical songs.
  
  
• August 27 – Marc Berger and Ride: Musician Marc Berger has a passion for creating, performing and recording his American roots songs, inspired by the desert and mountain West. His new album RIDE features ten cinematic recordings reflecting his romantic connection to the West and exploring the value of its myths to contemporary culture.
