Local Officials and Bonefish Grill Host Successful Fundraiser for Center for Safety & Change

Clarkstown Councilwoman Shirley Lasker and Bonefish Grill teamed up to raise about $2,000 for the Center for Safety & Change

On Sunday June 28th several county officials, Bonefish Grill, and local shops generously teamed up to support the Center for Safety & Change by partnering together to raise approximately $2,000 for the agency.

Clarkstown Councilwoman Shirley Lasker approached the staff at the Center for Safety & Change several months ago with the idea to partner with businesses at the Shops at Nanuet and host a fundraiser. Kaira Grundig, Managing Partner at Bonefish Grill, agreed to host the fundraiser and donate 15% of an entire day’s proceeds to support the Center for Safety & Change’s programs and services designed to help end violence against women and children.

Exemplifying the true spirt of community, Councilwoman Lasker and Kaira Grundig reached out to other businesses at the Shops at Nanuet and were able to secure items for five gift baskets for a raffle. Kaira Grundig also instructed her staff at Bonefish Grill to wear teal and purple ribbons to raise community awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence.

“The Center for Safety & Change is so appreciative to Shirley Lasker for introducing us to Kaira Grundig and the staff at Bonefish Grill,” said Cindy McMurtrie, Associate Director of Development at the Center for Safety & Change. “Kaira did an amazing job organizing the event, making sure enough staff was on hand and finding items for the raffle to make the day a true success. The proceeds for the day far exceeded our expectations and we look forward to a long relationship with Councilwoman Lasker, Kaira Grundig, and Bonefish Grill.”

Both Councilwoman Lasker and Kaira Grundig suggested that this could be the first of an annual series of events benefiting the Center for Safety & Change at Bonefish Grill. Not only was Bonefish Grill represented at the local level, but also at the regional level by Junior Vice President Diane Hartzel, who showed the company’s support by participating in the event.
