St. Anthony School Uses Student Council Election to Teach Importance of Voting and Electoral Process

Catholic school students learn about campaigning, voting and the election process at St. Anthony School in Nanuet

Students at Nanuet’s St. Anthony School, gathered together on the eve of Election Day, to listen to fellow students present their ideas and vision for why they should be chosen to represent the student body of St. Anthony School as President and Vice President. After listening to the different speeches prepared and presented by the aspiring young leaders, Sr. Patricia Howell, Principal, spoke to the student body about the importance of supporting candidates who are honest, represent your voice, and electing candidates who make good choices. The student candidates have been campaigning for several days. Later in the week, the entire student body will have the opportunity to cast their ballot and elect their next Student Council President and Vice President.

Saint Anthony School, a Catholic elementary school educating students in Pre-K through Grade 8, is part of the Catholic School Region of Rockland. The AdvancED accredited school is located at 34 West Nyack Road, Nanuet. For more information, call 845-623-2311.
