Beyond the Law: Closing the Gaps in Anti-Discrimination and Gender Justice

Across regions, strong legal frameworks for gender equality exist. Yet discrimination and barriers to justice persist for many women and girls. In too many cases, rights guaranteed in law are not matched by enforcement, resources, or real access to protection.

At #CSW70, PES Women and the Progressive Alliance convene policymakers, feminist leaders, and civil society representatives to examine the gap between legislation and implementation.

The discussion will address structural barriers including economic insecurity, labour-market discrimination, digital exclusion, and institutional bias. Speakers will also reflect on political challenges to gender-equality commitments and share experiences from Europe, Africa, and Latin America on strengthening protection and access to justice.
