CT Homecare Agency Hosts Community Dinner-Music Bingo Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Association

Whether you’re young or old, everyone loves to eat good food and have fun while doing it! That’s why Assisted Living Home Care Services in Cheshire, Westport and Putnam, is teaming up with local restaurant and bar Smoke and Muddle this summer to continue to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease in Connecticut. Specifically, the two businesses are hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association-CT Chapter on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 15 North Liberty Street in Southington from 6 p.m. to midnight, featuring musical bingo, raffles, prizes and of course, plenty of delicious pub food!

“We’re always seeking fun and creative ways to raise awareness for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts both personally and professionally,” said Mario D’Aquila, MBA, chief operating officer of Assisted Living Home Care Services. “As bingo is the one of the most favorite games that our elderly clients love to play with our caregiving staff, we anticipate a great turnout from area individuals and families on this special summer night celebration.”

According to the Alzheimer’s Association- CT Chapter, more than 76,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s in the state, and nearly double that amount of people are providing their unpaid care. The non-profit organization offers support to anyone afflicted with Alzheimer’s, advocating for the needs and rights of those facing dementia, or advancing critical research toward methods of treatment, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.

Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia, a general term for memory loss and other cognitive abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 60-80% of dementia cases. Alzheimer's is a progressive disease, where dementia symptoms gradually worsen over several years. In its early stages, memory loss is mild, but with late-stage Alzheimer's, individuals lose the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to their environment. On average, a person with Alzheimer's lives four to eight years after diagnosis but can live as long as 20 years, depending on other factors.

Since the beginning of the year, Assisted Living Home Care Services has raised a total of $1,200 for the charity by actively securing pledges for its company team- the Forget Me Not Fighters, which will participate in the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, as well as hosting an ice cream fundraiser last month. This year’s walk takes place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven.

For the August 15 fundraiser, Smoke and Muddle will offer its extensive menu of food and drinks, and donate a portion of the night’s proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association.
