Hurricane Irma Sends Yankees To Citi Field For Series With Tampa
The three-game series will actually be played at Citi Field, home of the Mets. Yankee Stadium was already booked.

The Yankees are headed into the lion's den next week. With Hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida, Major League Baseball announced Friday that the Yankees three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays will be played in New York.
The catch? The series will be played at Citi Field, home of the Mets.
Yankee Stadium was not an option because of events that had already been booked. The New York City Football Club has an upcoming game and on Monday and Tuesday and the stadium hosts an annual food festival.

The Rays will be considered the home team for the series.
The two teams meet again later this month when Tampa again travels to New York. For that series, though, they will be playing at Yankee Stadium.

The irony is that Tampa had just opened Tropicana Field for the Houston Astros who were displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
