Michelle Trachtenberg's Cause Of Death Revealed, Medical Examiner Says

NEW YORK CITY — Actor Michelle Trachtenberg's cause of death has been determined, the New York City’s medical examiner said Wednesday.

In a statement, the medical examiner said that Trachtenberg died as a result of complications from diabetes following a review of laboratory test results.

The 39-year-old, who made her name as a child actress in "Harriet the Spy" and went on to star in the hit teen dramas "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Gossip Girl, was found unresponsive in her luxury Midtown apartment tower in February, Patch previously reported.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. No foul play was suspected.

Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and was discovered by her mother, the New York Post reported,

The actor's family had objected to an autopsy, which the medical examiner’s office honored because there was no evidence of criminality.

Before landing the title role in "Harriet the Spy," Trachtenberg appeared on Nickelodeon shows like "Clarissa Explains it All" and "The Adventures of Pete and Pete," as well as more adult fare, including "Law & Order" and "All My Children."

After her turn on "Buffy" as little sister Dawn Summers, she went on to star in the films "EuroTrip," "Ice Princess" and "17 Again."
