NY Jets Star Darrelle Revis Faces Charges From Alleged Street Fight
Revis is expected to turn himself in after being charged with four felony crimes in Pittsburgh.
NEW YORK CITY — New York Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis is facing four felony charges in connection to his alleged involvement in a Pittsburgh street fight which left two men in their 20s beaten unconscious.
Revis, 31, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of robbery, one felony count of conspiracy and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats, according to a statement from Pittsburgh police. As of Friday morning, he was not in custody, but his agent Blaine Jones told ESPN Revis is arranging to turn himself in.
The charges stem from an alleged street fight that occurred early Sunday morning on the South Side of Pittsburgh, according to a police statement. While Revis was walking around 3 a.m., he was approached by a 22-year-old man who asked him to confirm his identity. The man then began to follow Revis and record videos of him on his cellphone, police said.

The situation then got physical, according to police.
"At some point, Revis snatched the cellphone away and attempted to delete the video," Pittsburgh police said in a statement.

The situation then escalated into a verbal argument, police said. A 21-year-old man came to the aid of the man who was filming Revis, and another man came to the aid of Revis, police said.
The 21-year-old and 22-year-old men told police they were then hit. Witnesses told police the men were unconscious for 10 minutes. Cellphone video recovered by law enforcement confirmed that Revis was involved in the fight, police said.
Despite the Pittsburgh police statement, Revis and his agent maintain that he's the victim.
Jones told ESPN Revis was attacked by five men. He knocked the phone away because he wasn't sure whether it was a weapon or he was about to be robbed or assaulted, Jones said. "He feared for his safety, Jones said."
"The bottom line is, Darrelle Revis was the victim in all of this," Jones said.
Jones also told ESPN Revis suffered injuries but did not detail the nature or severity of them.
Revis joined the New York Jets in 2007 after being selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Revis has enjoyed tremendous success in his career, earning four first-team All-Pro honors, seven trips to the Pro Bowl and the 2009 AFC Defensive Player of the Year award. During his prime Revis was given the nickname "Revis Island" for his ability to shut down star wide receivers as if they were locked away on an island.
Revis rejoined the Jets in 2015 after short stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots, where he won a Super Bowl. Despite being one of the greatest players in franchise history, Revis' future with the Jets remains in jeopardy due to his expensive contract and poor play during the 2016 season.
