NYC Eclipses 5M Coronavirus Vaccine Doses
The city hit the vaccination milestone last week — a span in which a record 553,000 doses went into arms, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

NEW YORK CITY — A whopping 5 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have gone into arms in New York City.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the milestone on Monday following a record-setting week in the city's still-young vaccination effort.
The achievement doesn't mean the city is ready completely reopen — most vaccine recipients still need to get a second dose to be fully vaccinated.

"Now that’s 5 million doses of the vaccine — that keeps us well on target for our overall goal of 5 million fully vaccinated New Yorkers in June," de Blasio said.
The numbers show the city's vaccination pace continues to grow. De Blasio said vaccination sites across the city doled out about 553,000 doses — a single-week record.

The city also set a single-day record last week. On April 8, about 105,000 doses were distributed, de Blasio said.
