NYC Tuesday Subway Delays: Early-Morning Incidents Cause Brief Delays on Several Lines

The A/E, B/D/F/M and N/Q/R lines experienced delays early Tuesday morning, but the commute was mostly smooth.

NEW YORK, NY — Tuesday's early morning commute was disrupted by a few isolated incidents which caused several subway lines to run with brief delays, according to the MTA. But for the most part Tuesday morning subway service ran smoothly, with good service reported on virtually every line during the heaviest commuting hours.

Delays were caused Tuesday morning on the A, E, B, D, F, M, N, Q and R lines by sick passengers, police activity, track maintenance and the ever-persistent "signal problems."

Around 7:45 a.m. several train lines were re-routed due to police activity reported at the Fifth Avenue-53rd Street station, according to the MTA. Northbound E trains were running on the F line between West 4 Street-Washington Square and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue and Forest Hills-bound M trains were running on the F line between 47-50 streets Rockefeller Center and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue.

After service changes and delays stemming from the incident at Fifth Avenue-53rd Street regular service was restored to the E, F, M and R lines with delays.

The first delays of the morning occurred around 6:22 a.m. when signal problems at Utica Avenue force northbound A trains to run locally between Broadway Junction and Hoyt-Schermerhorn St. in Brooklyn, according to the MTA. Regular service was restored the the A train around 6:30 but daily A train riders were not amused.

Signal problems again struck in Brooklyn at 86th Street, forcing northbound N and W trains to run with delays since 6:45 a.m. The issue is still ongoing, according to the MTA.

A sick passenger at the West 4th Street-Washington Square was reported by the MTA around 6:55 a.m. Due to the sick passenger B and D trains are running with delays, according the MTA. Train service has since been restored with residual delays, according to the MTA.
