Pfizer Pearl River Colleagues Running NYC Marathon To Support LLS

Pfizer colleagues will be participating in this year's New York City Marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

From Pfizer: A group of 15 Pfizer colleagues – the majority based in Pearl River – will be participating in this year’s New York City Marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Kelly Dennis will captain the Pfizer team at the New York City Marathon. Other Pearl River colleagues joining her are Adam Campbell, Mike Hanson, Frank Kotch, Dan Malinowski, Amar Prashad, Kena Swanson, Jackie Tyma and Mike Vega. Pfizer colleagues from other New York/New Jersey-area locations are also in the group, including Kimberly Luba, Susan Mittal, Susan Olupitan and Patrick Sullivan.

Among the events in which the Pfizer Pearl River NYC Marathon team has taken part to help build their endurance was the recent South Nyack 10 Miler. ”We all know someone who has suffered from cancer, or know someone who knows someone who has suffered from cancer,” said Dennis, a senior associate scientist at the Pfizer research and development site in Pearl River. “We do a lot of cancer research work in Pearl River, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a great organization.”

Team members have hosted a series of LLS fundraisers this year, including a bake sale and Oktoberfest at the Pfizer Pearl River site, and events at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and Growler & Gill Craft Brew Bar in Nanuet.

A group of 15 Pfizer colleagues – the majority based in Pearl River – will be participating in the New York City Marathon on November 5 to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In addition, each team member is performing 72 hours of volunteer service in order to receive a Pfizer volunteer grant to benefit LLS. Services they’ve done include working at a local animal facility tending to horses, distributing flyers and helping at other local races.

For Kelly and nearly all team members, this will be their first full marathon and they’ve taken part in regular training sessions and warm-up events to help build their endurance, including participating in the South Nyack 10 Miler on September 10.
