Stewart Taylor Levels Up in "Even"
The Artist Releases High Octane Visual to His Explosive Breakup Anthem

Pop artist Stewart Taylor is back on the music charts with the release of his newest single, “Even,” a dynamic dance-pop track that dives headfirst into the emotional rollercoaster of love, conflict, and self-discovery. Now accompanied by a visually striking music video, the song encapsulates the turmoil of a relationship on the brink, marking a significant evolution in Taylor’s artistic journey.
“Even” isn’t your typical breakup song; Taylor describes it as a “pre-breakup anthem” that dissects the complexity of love and accountability in relationships. “The language of the heart is tricky,” Taylor reflects. “You can be deeply in love with someone and still find yourselves on opposing teams.” The song chronicles the futile cycle of trying to “get even” with a partner, offering listeners an emotionally raw yet empowering message about breaking free from toxic dynamics.
The track’s accompanying music video, directed by Taylor’s long-time collaborator Benjamin Farren, turns the concept of a fraught relationship into a retro video game. Drawing inspiration from ‘80s video game aesthetics and a jacket emblazoned with the words “Game Over” that Taylor spotted at New York Fashion Week, the video uses vibrant special effects, animation, and imaginative storytelling to depict Taylor and his on-screen partner battling through metaphorical levels of their relationship. Each fight takes them deeper into a virtual world of escalating challenges, brilliantly mirroring the emotional highs and lows captured in the song.

“The video game concept was cathartic for me,” Taylor shares. “In real life, my partner and I were very much ‘Game Over’ by the time I finished this song. Walking away from that relationship was how I finally took back my power—so in the end, I won.” The high-energy choreography, spearheaded by Julie Vegliante, and Taylor’s indie-artist-inspired styling, featuring designs by German fashion designer Joseph Auren, elevate the music video to an artful spectacle.
One standout scene features Taylor cruising in a neon Corvette while his lover, adorned with a golden panther head, serves as a symbolic representation of the ex’s constant readiness to “pounce.” It’s a cinematic, larger-than-life depiction of the volatility Taylor experienced during the relationship.

The single and music video are a testament to Taylor’s creative growth as an artist. With his knack for combining honest storytelling and infectious beats, “Even” has already been hailed as one of his strongest releases yet. To extend the song’s reach to club audiences, Taylor partnered with Sapphire Records to produce a remix by Tennebreck, adding a fresh dance floor-ready twist.
Taylor is no stranger to the music world. A Berklee College of Music graduate, he’s collaborated with Grammy-nominated talents like Charlie Puth and Kara DioGuardi and penned hits for stars such as Romanian pop sensation Antonia and K-pop artist Josh Cullen. His previous singles, including the funk-inspired “Mess Your Hair Up” and MTV-featured “Nightmares,” laid the foundation for his growing career.
With his debut album slated for release in 2025, Taylor promises fans a collection of bold, emotionally charged tracks. Despite the turbulent emotions that fueled “Even,” Taylor has found closure. “My ex and I have healed a lot and even managed to stay friends,” he shares. “Thankfully, the fighting is over, and now our story lives on in my melodies.”
