“Waves, All That Glows Sees” To Enchant Families at Flushing Town Hall
Children & adults leave the place filled with tranquility, a pebble held in the palm of their hands & serenity in the depths of their hearts

On Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, families with young children can partake in a magical and mesmerizing theatrical experience at Flushing Town Hall. There will be three performances of “Waves, All That Glows Sees” in three different languages, English, Spanish and Mandarin.
Waves, all that Glows Sees, is a beautiful, immersive sea story with live music. To begin, families follow a little pathway of shells and stones into a big tent as they listen to the sound of someone playing the harmonica. Once inside, they encounter a tall man who is dreaming of the sea. As he enchants the audiences with his gentle music, he makes sand, turtles, seagulls, and fish appear, and then dune grass, the sky, and boats, as time passes. The performance is like a charming “postcard,” offering images, music, words, and silence, resembling a poem for someone you love or a holiday on an invented beach.
This one-of-a-kind family experience was created by the Théâtre des Confettis, a Canadian troupe known for audacious choices and a significant contribution to the development of dramatic arts for children and young people.

“When we first saw Waves by Théâtre des Confettis all the adults and children were mesmerized by the beautiful atmosphere their performance created,” says Flushing Town Hall’s Executive and Artistic Director Ellen Kodadek. “I can’t wait to see how our audiences will react to this charming performance at an imagined beach, filled with music, poetry, and silence. We are thrilled to be one of a handful of theatres in New York City that bring programming for very young audiences. It’s taken us 6 years to bring Waves to NYC!”

About the Théâtre des Confettis
Founded in Québec City in 1977, the company has created thirty-one shows to date. Fifteen of these productions, or the artists associated with them, have been honored by various award programs either as finalists or prize winners. For their work on Waves, all that Glows Sees,
Véronique Côté, who created the show, was a finalist for the direction award and Josué Beaucage was finalist for the Bernard-Bonnier award for music and musical environment from the Théâtre du Trident Foundation, through the Prix d’excellence des arts et de la culture of Québec (2012).
The Théâtre des Confettis places children at the center of its work, valuing their dreamy, poetic, heartfelt and sometimes crazy reactions, their laughter and their tears, and their fresh, curious and wide-awake approach. At each stage in the creative process, childhood is a constant reference point and focus in a non-condescending, non-patronizing way.
With their passion for images and music and their fascination with the power of beauty, Frédéric Brunet, Marianne Marceau, and Maxime Robin hope to make Théâtre des Confettis a home for artistic exchanges, where intuition and pleasure play central roles, and where the focus is always on children and their audacity, honesty, and curiosity.
Whether as performers, stage directors or audience members, they have celebrated the deeply poetic and uncompromising artistry of Théâtre des Confettis’ works. They have sought to create accessible, entertaining, and moving works that help us to understand the human condition, believing that theater functions like a magnifying glass hanging over the world and the individual; that it allows us to observe things in detail and reveals all that is most tender, most disconcerting, most significant. Seeing a performance is a time to contemplate, to understand, and to embrace the world in every one of its delicate and vertiginous aspects.
Brief descriptions of the show in Spanish and Mandarin, which may be useful for non-English-speaking audiences:
