2 Jeep Grand Cherokees Stolen from New City Driveways: Police

And one of them disappeared between 6 and 8:30AM; it was seen by the husband leaving for work.

The Clarkstown Police Department is currently investigating two stolen vehicles that occurred in the New City area sometime between the overnight and early morning hours Thursday.

Both vehicles are Jeep Grand Cherokees. It appears that the thefts are related.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau is conducting an extensive investigation and working with other police departments in the New York and New Jersey area to compare past incidents in the hopes of gaining leads that could assist the detectives.

The first incident was reported on Mark Lane in New City at about 6:40 AM Sept. 24.

The vehicle owner reported that his vehicle had been parked in the driveway from the night before. When the owner, a 52-year-old New City man, went out to the driveway in the morning, the car was gone. The vehicle was described as a silver 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The second incident was reported on Deerfield Drive in New City at 8:40 AM.

The vehicle owner reported that her vehicle had been parked in the driveway from the night before and was gone when she went to use it in the morning. Her husband had left for work earlier and had seen the car. The theft is believed to have occurred between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM. The owner, a 29-year-old New City resident, described the vehicle as a white 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Although the method used by the thieves has not yet been determined, the Clarkstown Police Department would like to remind everyone to please lock your vehicles at night, don’t leave your keys in your vehicles and if your vehicle has a FOB key system, please ensure that you don’t leave your FOB inside the vehicle.
