Abdallah Pitches No Hitter to Lead Rams to 3-0 Start to the Season
Clarkstown North offense comes alive after slow start to defeat East Ramapo, 8-0.
Clarkstown North pitcher Rob Abdallah led his team to its third victory of the season when he pitched the first no hitter of his career to defeat East Ramapo, 8-0, Friday.
Abdallah was untouchable as he let up no hits, struck out six and walked none to continue his team’s undefeated start to the season.
“This feels amazing,” said Abdallah. “The whole game, I felt like I had really good control of the ball and I just flew and had a good game. Ian, the catcher, helped me out a lot and I felt like I played really well today and just did my job.”

The defense stepped up to help Abdallah along the way and North’s bats came alive after a bit of a slow start to bring home eight runs. All in all, the Rams head coach Mike Pisano was very pleased with the performance.
“Our catcher’s caught a couple of no hitters, so he caught a good game obviously,” said Pisano. “Rob Abdallah is the guy who pitched it. We had three throwing errors, but we played well. They swing the bat OK, we got some clutch hitting with two outs. They put a little pressure on the defense, moved the ball around a little bit, but it was a pretty quick game.” He added, “It was a well played game, both ways, pretty clean. That’s always nice. But it was all about [Abdallah] today, him and the catcher and the defense, the defense played well.”

East Ramapo fought hard to the end, however, they could not match up against North and Abdallah’s excellent pitching.
“The previous game, they had eight hits against us, so I wasn’t expecting to come out here and throw a no hitter,” said Abdallah. “I just wanted to do my best, but I came out and it worked out and I’m very excited.”
In the end, with a no hitter in sight, it all came down to just finishing the job for Abdallah.
“A little bit,” said Abdallah when asked about whether he felt the pressure later in the game. “But when you get on the mound, you just kind of zone in and don’t even think about it, you’ve just got to do your job and I saw everyone on the last batter standing up at the end and I was just thinking, I gotta get this curve ball down and get this last one and do my job and it worked out well.”
For the Rams, the undefeated start is a definite confidence booster as they head into a tough rivalry game against South on Monday. The game will be at North and starts at 4:15 p.m.
“It gives the team a huge boost, especially going into South next week,” said Abdallah. “It gives the team a lot of confidence all together.”
