April 21 - Chess Grandmaster Challenge at RCC
free and open to the public

Ramapo- Rockland Community College will host its 27th Annual Chess Grandmaster Challenge on Tuesday, April 21. International grandmaster Gennady Sagalchik will play up to 25 opponents simultaneously at the challenge event.

12:30 – 4:00 pm
Student Union (Room 3214)
All RCC students are invited to get their game on and take advantage of an opportunity to challenge a real chess grandmaster. Faculty and staff members may also participate, as well as Rockland County high school students. All are welcome to observe the grandmaster in action.
RCC math professor Peter Arvanites calls the Chess Challenge “one of the highlights of the academic year,” and says, “International grandmaster Gennady Sagalchik welcomes players of all ability levels. The event is an educational experience for both the participants and spectators alike.”
Chess sets will be available for players, but you may also bring your own. Faculty and staff who play are asked to contribute $5 to the RCC Chess Club. Refreshments will be available and free for players and spectators.
