Boulders Launch Hurricane Irene Relief Effort
Red Cross, Salvation Army and United Way to benefit from donations.

The Rockland Boulders said today that $1 from each ticket sold for the final two home games of the regular season will go to Hurricane Irene relief efforts.
More than 3,000 tickets have already been sold for the games on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. The donations will be split evenly between the American Red Cross of Greater New York, Salvation Army Eastern Territory and United Way of Rockland County for their relief efforts, according to Boulders President Ken Lehner.
“In spite of today’s sunshine, we know that the wind and rain over the weekend continues to be a problem for many Lower Hudson Valley residents,” said Lehner. “This is just one manner in which we can give back to a community who has been very supportive of the Boulders during our inaugural season.”

In addition to the donation, the three charities have been invited to collect additional contributions at the Provident Bank Park in Pomona during the two games, Lehner said.
During the height of the storm Sunday, Provident Bank Park served as a staging area for first responders and emergency workers. Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence worked with Ovations, the food and beverage provider of the ballpark, to provide meals for more than 150 workers who were battling the elements.
