Child Getting Off Bus Hit By Truck, Pinned Under Minivan In Rockland
The 9-year-old Cherry Lane Elementary School student was rushed to the hospital.

RAMAPO, NY — A student is in critical but stable condition today after being hit by a pickup truck and pinned under a minivan just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
A Ramapo Police officer on patrol was sent to the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and North Airmont Road responding to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. He found a child pinned under a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan. The officer and bystanders were able to lift the front end of the minivan and free the child, Ramapo police said.
The child was transported to Westchester Medical Center by WP Faist Ambulance and
Rockland Paramedics.

Police said it appears as if the 9-year-old, a student at Cherry Lane Elementary School and Ramapo resident, had just gotten off a school bus at the intersection when he was struck by a westbound 2010 F550 pickup truck.

The child was thrown and landed under a 2011 Toyota Sienna that was stopped in traffic.

The operator of the truck, a 43-year-old Spring Valley resident, did remain on scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
