Clarkstown Boys Tennis Still Undefeated

Rams continue to bulldoze way through season with a 7-0 victory over East Ramapo, bringing record to 12-0.

Clarkstown North matched up against East Ramapo Friday.  The sun, warmth, and lack of wind  were a welcome change from the previous few matches.  Yet again, the Rams went on to victory and extended their winning streak to 12-0.

East Ramapo, with a record now of 0-8, did not provide much competition for the Rams.  Such skill discrepancies in their match-ups are not unfamiliar to the team, as they took a 7-0 victory.

In singles, Grant Germano matched up against East Ramapo's Jeff Obciana.  There were some tough volleys, however, Germano dominated the match overall, winning it 6-1, 6-0.  Jonathan Patarkatsi faced Dwayne Gentle with the same 6-1, 6-0 result as his teammate.  In his match against Dean Gentle, Clarkstown North's Neil Ramaswamy had slightly more difficulty than his teammates.  He won his first set 6-0, yet found it difficult to close out his second.  After a number of unforced errors and difficult volleys, Ramaswamy rallied to close out the set 6-4 and win the match.  Despite the loss, this was an especially impressive effort by East Ramapo's Dean Gentle due to the fact that he is only in seventh grade, as is Dwayne Gentle.

In doubles, Josh Raines and Jon Zucker matched up against East Ramapo's Lonrad Swick and Steven Gandayao.  Raines and Zucker displayed an impressive performance, winning their match 6-0, 6-0.  Jake Bickel and Jeremy Chaitin followed suit, defeating East Ramapo's Brian Bouroiguot and Simon Ohaske 6-0, 6-0.  Jake Tobias and Griffin Gold completed Clarkstown's sweep of the doubles matches with another 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Coach Schwartz was satisfied with his team's performance.  Though it wasn't a competitive match for Clarkstown, this was good for his team.

"I didn't go with my regular lineup today, so it gave those other players an opportunity to play," the coach said.

Clarkstown faces tough competition when they play Suffern on Monday at home.
