Clarkstown Cops Nab Burglary Suspect
A New City businessman monitoring his office from home saw a break-in in progress and called it in.

The Clarkstown Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at 151 N. Main St. in New City at 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
A 71 year old New City man told police that his surveillance system motion sensor activated while he was at home, notifying him of a possible break in at his office. Using his remote camera system, he observed a man in his office going through his desk.
Police arrived, searched the building, and apprehended a suspect without incident.

During the search, officers found a tire iron that they believe was used to gain access to the office.
Jonathan Vilches, 19, of Congers was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with burglary 3rd (felony) and possession of burglar tools (misdemeanor).

Vilches was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $1,000 and he was transported to Rockland County Jail. He will return to court Dec. 28.
